The Best Mac N Cheese
What makes a great mac and cheese? Endless cheesy goodness, of course, but also flavor and a bit of pork belly. When I make this recipe everybody ends up loving it. I usually make it when the kids are visiting or to send it to the ER with Jason (I obviously keep a bit for myself).
Some tips to step up your mac and cheese game:
Grate your own cheese
Use different types of cheeses
Add crunchy and meaty toppings
Don’t be afraid to use spices and seasoning!
Ingredients:
1/2lbs pork belly
Rosmery
5tbsp butter
1tbsp minced garlic
1 onion
2 1/2 tbsp flour
3 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
8oz gruyere cheese
8oz mozzarella cheese
8oz white cheddar
1tbsp sazon seasoning
1tsp black pepper
1/2tsp garlic powder
1/2tsp onion powder
1tsp paprika
1lbs pasta
Instructions:
Boil pasta and set aside
Cook the pork belly and set aside. Save the oil left behind
Add butter, onion, garlic, and rosemary to pan
Add milk & flour slowly and mix
Add heavy cream while still mixing
Add all spices and seasonings
Start adding cheeses slowly into the pan while mixing it all together
Keep mixing until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth
Add pasta to a baking pan
Pour cheese sauce and pork belly over it and mix it together
Add more grated cheese to the top
Put in oven for 20 minutes to melt cheese and get a gold and crunchy top
