10 Questions with Katie Cabak, owner of ADOR Photography.

  1. Katie tell us a little bit about yourself.
Katie: I’m a boy mom through and through. My photography career actually started when I got him.

  2. Why did you choose photography?
K: I dabbled in photography before I had my son. When I had my son I loved taking his picture all the time, that’s when it kind of blossomed to a career for me. I was in college at the time, so I have my business degree, which really helps me back my own business.

  3. Why weddings and families?
K: I started in family photography. When my son was smaller, it was a bit easier because I was in that role of a new mom with a small child, so I had all these friends with small children, so it really started with families because of that. But later I really found my passion, which is weddings. After doing my first wedding it was like: Yep, that’s it, I love it!

  4. What do you enjoy the most: Weddings or family sessions?
K: I just love weddings all around, and I love capturing the story.

  5. What is exactly included in your packages?
K: I have an elopement package that is strictly just photography, is the only one that doesn’t include an engagement session. For all the other packages, what is included is the engagement session, it is very important that we meet before the wedding day, so you don’t have a complete stranger the day of your wedding. I help with outfit selection. You get an online gallery with all of your photos, you can download your pictures and print them wherever you want. For the actual wedding day, it is the amount of hours you choose. I have a five, seven, or ten hour package, depending on your needs.

  6. How has COVID affected your business?
K: Everything is just smaller, a lot more elopements. Everything seems to be more intimate, in a smaller scale. But I love it, because there are more of those -intimate- moments for me to capture.

  7. What makes a good picture stand out?
    K: Emotion, 100%.

  8. What photo-editing program do you love the most?
K: I use photoshop, I learned in photoshop, so it makes it easier to stay there. Lightroom is a great option for other people too.

  9. What do you love about SWFL?
K: The outdoors, exploring, kayaking, paddle boarding.

  10. What inspires you daily?
K: My son is a huge part of my life. I enjoy the reactions I get from my clients. Lastly, finding the connection within the family, that they might not know they have, and being able to capture it.
